Saturday night is OCarnivale at Kessler Theater. It’s a masquerade ball, but you can dress as fancy or casual as you want. A $40 ticket buys entry to the concert with two zydeco bands and lots of Cajun food.

The parade, which this year follows Davis from Windomere to the Bishop Arts District, starts at 4 p.m. Sunday.

And a crawfish boil in the B.A.D. is from 3-7 p.m. Sunday.

That’s a lot of Mardi Gras stuff, so get involved with Fat Tuesday. The Advocate is walking in the parade again this year — holla! And at least one parade participant is skipping those landfill filling plastic beads from China in favor of “green” favors. The Old Oak Cliff Conservation League is throwing flowers. Good idea!

Also on Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. is the first Bishop Arts Saturday Market.

Cliff Notes Prolonged Media is launching a children’s story time at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Performance poet Opalina Salas, who owns the shop with her husband, Carlos, will read from Shel Silverstein’s “A Light in the Attic”.

The Texas Theatre shows two hours of “Our Gang” shorts starting at 2 p.m. Sunday. Their full lineup this weekend includes the original “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and Howard Hughes’s “The Outlaw”.
