Whereas, Michael Amonett is a lifetime resident of Oak Cliff, born at Methodist hospital and a graduate of Kimball High School; and

Whereas, Michael’s great-grandparents moved to Oak Cliff in the early 1900s, and he currently lives in a home built by his grandfather, who was a carpenter by trade; and

Whereas, one of Michael’s pride and joys in a 1920s commercial building that he purchased in 2006 and restored back to service; the building, located in a Conservation District, proudly boasts as part of the National Registry; and

Whereas, under Michael’s leadership as president of the League, revenues for the annual Fall Home Tour were increased by 100 percent; and

Whereas, Michael remains dedicated to the preservation of neighborhoods and promoting Oak Cliff as an exceptional place to live;

Now, therefore, I, Dwaine Caraway, mayor of the City of Dallas, and on behalf of the Dallas City Council, do hereby extend special recognition on April 6, 2011, to Michael Amonett for his passionate and tireless efforts in the preservation of our neighborhoods.
