On Thursday, June 9 from 7–9 p.m., the Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts is hosting “Works on Paper,” a book preservation clinic. Taught by Oil & Cotton’s Shannon Driscoll, whose background is in art conservation, and The Book Doctor’s Candice McKay, the class will cover the proper care and restoration of important and heirloom works on paper such as documents, artwork and books.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a paper heirloom from their own collections — an antique book, manuscript, document or unframed work of art — for the one-on-one consultations that will follow the presentation. During the consultations, Shannon and Candice will analyze the heirlooms, give care information and discuss their historical significance. They will also have information on local appraisers and framers.
