This weekend: Robocop, art talk, music, movies, pool party

Robocop is screening Friday night at City Hall in an event billed as “see it where they shot it”. A group of cyclists is meeting at 6 p.m. at Jonathan’s restaurant (the old Beckley Brewhouse, near Beckley and El Dorado) to cruise across the bridge and watch the movie.

Oak Cliff-based artist Kevin Obregon collaborated with artist Michael Christopher Matson on a massive sculpture, “The American Beast”. They will give a talk about the piece at the Kirk Hopper Fine Art Gallery from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.

The Kessler Theater has Ian Moore & the Lossy Coils Friday and Tiger Darrow Saturday.

The Texas Theatre is showing the action/adventure movie Troll Hunter, plus the documentary Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop.

On Monday night, July 4, the Texas is hosting a free outdoor screening of The Sandlot at the Lake Cliff Park baseball field.

Also on Monday, the Belmont Hotel pool will be open to the public from 1-10 p.m. Smoke will be grilling by the pool from 6-10 p.m. Get a spot early and watch fireworks on the skyline.
