Tranquillo yoga studio is hosting an art show from 7-11 p.m. Friday, July 29. Artists include Sandra Martinez, Orlando Hernandez, Christopher Tranquino and Gaby Magdaleno. There will be music performances by the C-Fly Band, Dustin Cavazos and Day Blues, plus a dance performance by Nestor Perez. Tickets are $10, which include a raffle ticket for original artwork, food and drinks.

One of the Texas Theatre guys, Eric Steele, wrote a play with a long title: “Bob Birdnow’s Remarkable Tale of Human Survival and the Transcendence of Self.” And that play is being produced as part of the Festival of Independent Theaters. It shows at 8 p.m. Friday, July 29 and Thursday, Aug. 4 at the Bath House Cultural Center.

Remember when we wondered whether Duncanville is secretly cool? Well, it turns out that could actually be the case. Oak Cliff’s own Better Block crew is working on Duncanville now.  They’re helping put on an event called “Duncanville’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday at Cox Farms Market on Main Street.
