The Old Oak Cliff Conservation League announced Tuesday it is donating more than $8,500 to the community. That’s in addition to the more than $14,400 it granted to member neighborhoods for improvements this past June.

The league is giving more than $4,100 to the Bishop Arts Theater Center for a marquee.

Turner House is getting $1,900 for roof repairs.

The Dallas Homeowners League is getting $500 for scholarships for people who otherwise couldn’t afford it to attend DHL’s Boot Camp Aug. 20.

And $2,000 is going to the Mary Griffin Future Preservationist Scholarship. The scholarship will go to Corrie Coleman, who was featured in the May Advocate. She created an audio walking tour of the Bishop Arts District.

All of the funds donated came from the 2010 Old Oak Cliff Conservation League Home Tour, which earned $26,000 profit. This year’s tour is Oct. 9 and 10.
