Funeral services are today for the Dallas fire fighter who was killed working a fire at Ridgecrest Terrace Apartments this past Sunday. Lt. Todd Krodle, 41, fell through the roof of a building. A story in today’s Dallas Morning News describes Ridgecrest Terrace as “a sprawling complex with a long history of crime, code violations and general disrepair.” The building’s roof had been damaged in a windstorm 11 years ago and was just repaired last year, though the complex’s owners didn’t pull the proper permits and avoided building inspections, according to the story.

The Catholic Diocese of Dallas is terminating the Calumet Community Center’s lease, saying the center failed to obtain insurance.
