Saturday was a banner day for opening of new retail shops in north Oak Cliff, particularly if you’re a fan of the interesting shops and galleries already at the Tyler/Davis intersection.  Gallery Bomb opened with a large, diverse crowd perusing the works of several local artists.  The featured artist was Loretta Gonzales and some of her works were sold at the opening, always a good sign for the future.  Tom Battles opened his custom picture framing gallery and, with all the art going on in Oak Cliff, I predict he’ll be very busy.  He’s also renowned throughout Dallas because of his prior Design District shop so maybe more shoppers will come across the river and spend money in the Cliff.  Finally, Bishop Arts Winery, while not technically open because it had not received its TABC permit, had free samples.   It will be open for coffee and pastries as it awaits its permit.  Tyler/Davis is quickly becoming another destination in north Oak Cliff.
