Dead cats and city hall

My column in the East Dallas magazine this month takes a look at the disaster that is the city’s animal services department, why voters and taxpayers don’t seem to care, and what the latest scandal says about how poorly the city is run. One would think that if we don’t care enough about municipal government to vote, then we’d at least care enough about a dead kitty to clean out City Hall.

And, for those of you with the stomach, the Observer’s Andrea Grimes did some brilliant reporting about the latest animal services scandal. And I mean stomach: the details about what happened to the cat are not easy to read. It’s another fine example of how our tax dollars are abused.
