The first is Saturday, Oct. 29, from 3-8 p.m. at the North Oak Cliff Library. It will include a community offrenda, where neighbors can leave photos and mementos in remembrance of deceased loved ones.
There will also be altars created by local schools, live music, storytelling, ballet folklórico performances and arts and crafts for kids. The festival concludes with a candlelight procession.
A second DÃa de los Muertos celebration is from 7-10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 in the Tyler/Davis district. Oil & Cotton, CocoAndré and other businesses in the district are organizing this celebration, which includes music, face painting, art workshops, a festival of altars, an altar contest and a history lecture about the traditional celebration, plus hot chocolate and snacks.
