Campo is another new “Oak Cliff, Oh!!-Wow” restaurant.  Short ribs, pasta with meaty oxtail sauce and a great salumi platter make it a place you want to try before the foodies find it.  It is located in the former La Carretta space on Beckley but the interior has been opened up and the subdued lighting was welcoming last night during the rain storm.  My wife paid the chef the ultimate compliment on the short ribs:  they were better than hers (and that’s saying a lot).  The pear dessert and chorizo donuts are also innovative.  It’s still BYOB for awhile so take a nice bottle of wine and enjoy the rustic fare.  My only complaint:  the menu type was too small for my aging eyes.  But the owners are eager to take your suggestions for improvement and I bet the menu type is better when you visit.
