Left Bank is the name of a restaurant taking over the former Decanter space on Eighth Street in Bishop Arts. Randall Copeland and Nathan Tate of Restaurant Ava in Carrollton and Bradley and Brooks Anderson of Veritas are teaming up for this one. The restaurant is expected to open in February or March as an American bistro utilizing local ingredients.

The Dallas Morning News ran a Sunday story investigating the shooting death of 33-year-old Jesse Benavides at a house on June Drive Oct. 22. Turns out the suspect, who is still at large, is an illegal immigrant who less than two months before the killing was accused of raping his wife. It is unclear why 31-year-old Santana Ganoa was released after being arrested on those charges. The full story is behind a pay wall, but there is more on Avi Selk’s blog.

The DMN ran an editorial about 7-year-old Isaiah Calderon of Oak Cliff who gave $7 to The Well Community and was inspired to do more. He and his mom raised more than $1,000 through a bake sale with Isaiah’s clever marketing tagline: “Come to get super expensive food for a super good cause!”
