The developers of Sylvan | Thirty today announced a “culinary incubator” is part of their plans for the mixed-use development. Chef Sharon Hage, who closed her famed restaurant York Street last year, will be the incubator’s “culinary curator,” in charge of selecting cooking talent.

The way a media release describes it, this culinary incubator sounds like a co-op for young chefs. They pay a fee in exchange for access to a shared commercial kitchen and retail space, “giving them the opportunity to craft and sell their food products without the initial expense of building out and equipping their own space.”

The release says “Hage will help identify prospective members of the incubator and promote the incubator’s mission of supporting home-grown, food-related businesses.”

So far, the planned development is shaping out to be quite the culinary destination. Anchor tenant Cox Farms Market was the first to sign a lease, and Matador Meat & Wine signed on last month.
