The Houston Street Viaduct was built in 1912, and Go Oak Cliff is planning a 100th birthday celebration for it this spring.
Details are yet to come, but Jason Roberts of Go Oak Cliff says the group is planning to close the bridge for the celebration.
That makes two parties on bridges this spring. Bridge-o-Rama, the festival that will mark the opening of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is March 2-4.
We expect the Houston Street Viaduct party to be something like a huge block party. Roberts says: “I really want to get catapults.”
Catapults?

Yes, he wants to fling large gourds off the bridge into the Trinity River.
