I’m sitting in the Oak Cliff HQ this morning, listening to helicopters overhead. TV news tells me there was a violent attempted armored car robbery at a check cashing place on Hampton and Davis, a couple of blocks away.

A man sitting at the bus stop on West Davis ambushed the armored car driver, who arrived at about 9:45 a.m., and shot him in the upper body, according to WFAA. The driver returned fire and shot the robber. Both are in the hospital, and it sounds like the driver is gravely injured.

This is the second violent armored-car robbery in our neighborhood in recent years. In September 2009, an armored car driver was killed in a robbery outside Chase Bank on Sylvan at Fort Worth Avenue.
