Former Dallas mayor Tom Leppert did about what everyone who wasn’t Tom Leppert expected in yesterday’s GOP senatorial primary. He got 13 percent of the vote and finished a distant third.

Still, third doesn’t seem so bad, especially since Leppert was vastly outspent – save for one thing. He also finished third in Dallas County. Yes, it was a closer third, but it was still third. Leppert touted his accomplishments as Dallas’ mayor, and Dallas voters could have cared less. Would that they had realized that his promises were just as empty when he was elected in 2007.
