This weekend: live music, prom, sewing, sweet tea

Barefoot at the Belmont is sold out this weekend, but you can still get your dose of live music Friday June 8 at Bar Belmont. This weekend they are featuring Bill Longhorse, a jazz and blues musician, and the live session is from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

Dance and party like it’s your senior prom and support a local organization at the same time! Promise House is hosting their first ever Prom Squared, Saturday June 9, at the Kessler. The Gala fundraiser features the Grammy award-winning band Brave Combo, and all proceeds from the event will support Promise House, an organization benefiting the homeless and runaways of North Texas. Tickets are available at prekindle.com and range from $35-$100. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Learn sewing basics from the pros this weekend at Indie Genius. Among the many classes is Sewing basics 1, which teaches design construction. The class is June 9 at 9:30 p.m. and costs $49. Call 48 hours in advance to make reservations: 214-941-0075.

Tillman’s Roadhouse is celebrating national iced tea month with refreshing drink specials. Join them all June for their $5 special, “tipsy tea,” a mix of sweet tea vodka and Tillman’s fresh lemonade.

Independent Designers Dallas is having their first showcase at Stage 404 in Expo Park, Saturday June 16, from 8-10 p.m. and Sunday June 17, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. You will see furniture and furnishing designs from established and new designers from here in Dallas. The showcase will feature such local designers as: Robert N. Wohlfeld, Stash Design, Field Day, Dan H. Phillips, Springer Design Studio, KC Caekaert, Council & Craft, Tony Barsotti, Richard Wincorn Studios, Satelluxe and Kip Lott.
