The Oak Cliff Film Festival starts tonight with “The Ghastly Love of Johnny X” at 7:30 p.m., followed by a party with the King Bucks. Here is the full schedule of the festival, which runs through Sunday and takes place at venues all over our neighborhood. Admission to movies and events costs $10, and all-access passes are still available. There are a few free events, including 9 p.m. “Tuesday Night Trash” screenings at the Belmont pool Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The five-man band Seryn will play at the Kessler Friday, June 15, featuring Beau Jennings and the Tigers. Seryn’s last performance at the Kessler sold out fast, but tickets are still available and are $15-$25 on Prekindle.
Tyler street United Methodist church is hosting a free drive-in movie Friday, June 15. The featured movie is “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” Gates open at 8 p.m. A playground for children, bathrooms and concessions are available. Call Kyle for more info or to volunteer, 214.946.8106.
Bike Friendly Oak Cliff hosts a bicycle tour, “On the Trail of Lee Harvey Oswald,” starting at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 16, at Dealey Plaza. The ride travels across the Houston Street Viaduct and visits Oswald’s rooming house and other sites related to the JFK assassination, ending at the Texas Theatre and the Oak Cliff Film Festival.
Sunset Hill neighborhood begins its Sunset Summer Sunday nights Sunday, June 17. This Father’s Day concert features the band Souled Out. Event starts at 7 p.m. at the sanctuary at Cavalry Oak Cliff, Tenth and Waverly.
