The Hunger Center of North Texas is a new research initiative from the North Texas Food Bank that emerged from the food bank’s ReThink Hunger campaign as a solution to understand and combat hunger in the 13 North Texas counties.

An advisory council composed of community members initiated the canter, whose mission is to build knowledge about and fight hunger by developing more effective nutrition assistance programs and policies.

The aim is to bring together researchers to investigate the extent of food insecurity in North Texas and its impact on health, education and household economics.

“We see the Hunger Center growing into a regional hub of information, sharing and education that leads the way in conducting research about hunger and its impact on individuals and communities,” says Jan Pruitt, president and CEO of the North Texas Food Bank.
