Ilyan Perez of Oak Cliff, 5, threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Texas Rangers’ outing against the White Sox Sunday.

Perez is a client of Easter Seals North Texas, and he arrived for his first speech therapy lesson wearing a Texas Rangers T-shirt.

Since then, he has proven himself a hard worker at weekly speech therapy sessions, therapist Nadia Costa says.

“He reminds me every Thursday morning that it’s speech therapy day,” says his mom, Cristina Perez. “Nadia makes therapy fun for him, and he is always excited to come home and do his speech therapy homework.”

Dr. Pepper provided 100 game tickets to Easter Seals employees and clients so they could watch Ilyan throw out the first pitch Sunday.
