Good news regarding my tantrum this morning about adult swim at Kidd Springs Park pool.

City Councilwoman Delia Jasso wants to offer free admission to the pool this Sunday, July 29, from 5-8 p.m.

If you say you’re with the Advocate and BRING YOUR I.D., you will get into the pool for free. Jasso will pay your admission herself.

Robin Steinshnider, aquatics manager for the Dallas Park and Recreation Department,  says adult-only swim is something the city is trying out, and City Councilwoman Delia Jasso asked to implement it at Kidd Springs Park first. It is a good idea, but attendance has been low, Steinshnider says.

Every Sunday, the staff has to clear out all the kids in the pool for adults-only swim at 5 p.m.

“We’ve had some resistance to that from teenagers, and that’s why we had to institute the ID policy, because we have to be fair to everyone,” she says.

She apologized for my frustration, even though most of our near-disaster Sunday was no one’s fault but our own.
