“Still waiting on the building permit to be finalized with the city. Expecting it any day,” says the development’s spokesman, Cooper Smith Koch. Nothing irregular or strange is happening, Koch adds, which was also noted in this September DMN post from Roy Appleton, which notes that “the lingering issues aren’t that unusual and once resolved, a building permit will be issued.”

When city council approved Sylvan Thirty’s rezoning request last December, developer Brent Jackson expected construction to start in May. In our August story profiling the project, construction was expected to start late summer or fall. But no dirt is flying yet, which, according to Smith Koch, appears to be the result of good ol’ government red tape.

When construction does begin, “my understanding is that it’s all going to be built at once,” Smith Koch says. “They’ll likely start at the back, where the garage and apartments are, but only because it’s the largest of the buildings and requires the most interior finish-out. Nothing is expected to be constructed significantly ahead or behind anything else, though.”
