Happy holidays, North Oak Cliff! We’re getting a new hot dog restaurant.

Hofmann’s Hots is expected to open on Singleton at McPherson in about two weeks, says Mark Brezinski of Trinity Groves.

Hot dogs are trendier than frozen yogurt right now. In fact, this isn’t the only tube-meat spot expected on our side of the river. Restaurateur Sarah Lombardi is planning a hot dogs and frozen custard place, The Dog House, in the former El Padrino taco stand in Bishop Arts.

Hofmann’s Hots is a concept from Zaccanelli Food Group, which includes Frank Zaccanelli, Phil Romano and Roger Staubach. The group earlier this year bought Hoffman Sausage Co., a 133-year-old company, which makes hot dogs, sausages and mustard, that is based in Zaccanelli’s hometown, Syracuse, N.Y.

The weenies already are available at Eatzi’s and Albertson’s stores. The group is planning to expand Hofmann’s worldwide, and the restaurant in West Dallas is the first of several the group is planning.

The concept for Hofmann’s Hots is similar to Romano’s Fudruckers restaurant concept in that diners build their own hot dogs, according to this City of Ate story from October. And Eatzi’s is making the buns.

Hofmann’s will be the second restaurant in Trinity Groves. Babb Bros. BBQ and Blues opened last month.
