Shooting in Kiest apartments

NBC 5 reports a shooting took place today, Dec. 14 at the Kiest Crossing Apartments on the 4500 block of W. Kiest. According to the station, the apartments–located between Loop 12 and S. Cockrell Hill–were on lockdown as of 11:30 a.m.

One person is dead and police were somehow involved, NBC 5 writes.

This news comes the same morning as that of another terrible shooting, in Connecticut. As more information comes in, we’ll update this post.

Update: It looks like police officers had been responding to a drug complaint at the apartment. When they approached a “suspicious vehicle,” there was a struggle and someone in the car pulled a gun. Police responded by shooting and killing the man. Another man in the car ran away and was later arrested.
