mardidog Fido Oak Cliff has been working for about two years to fund and create a dog park in North Oak Cliff. The group’s vision could become a reality soon.

The group staged a pop-up dog park at its biggest fundraiser, Dash for the Beads, this past weekend, and the city noticed.

Michael Reagan, FIDO Oak Cliff co-founder and District 3 park board representative, invited park department director Willis Winters to the event and walked him through the popup dog park.

City Councilwoman Jasso announced Monday that she and Winters plan to work on a permanent dog park at Kidd Springs.

Jasso stated in a letter to Fido Oak Cliff:

“I have asked our new Park and Recreation Director, Willis Winters, to begin a site plan and cost estimate for a permanent dog park in the area where the pop-up dog park was held this past weekend. Simultaneously, my office will be sending a survey to the adjacent neighborhood.”

Once a site plan and cost estimate have been completed, a timeline for construction can be set, Jasso says.
