El Padrino taquería found a new location in the PG, but you can still have a wonderful lunch like this one at the OG El Padrino on West Jefferson in OC.

The only taco stand in the Bishop Arts District closed last year to make way for a new restaurant concept from Sarah Lombardi offering hot dogs and frozen custard.

El Padrino was a “casualty to the Bishop Arts District’s success,” according to a media release from the restaurant. Managing partner Juan Contreras Jr. says the family-owned business looked for another location in Oak Cliff, where their original cafe, El Padrino Restaurant, opened about 20 years ago and still is operating. But they couldn’t find a location to suit the El Padrino taquería, Contreras says.

Instead they’ve leased a spot at 1215 S. Buckner at Lake June. The new El Padrino taquería is expected to open May 3.

“We had a great run in the Bishop Arts District, and were surrounded by inspiring friends in the community and we expect to continue our success in our new location,” Contreras states in the release.
