Show off your xeriscape in Water-Wise Landscape Tour

Location0404Is your yard beautiful and water efficient? Do you use native or adapted Texas plants? Is mulching your hobby? If so, your yard could be a star of Dallas Water Utilities’ 19th-annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour on June 1.

Applications are being accepted now, and the deadline is April 12. Five homeowners will win prizes in this year’s tour.

Here are the judging criteria:

• Design
Aesthetic appeal; composition; use of color and plant variety
• Water conservation
Efficient irrigation/water use; use of non-vegetative materials such as fences, walls,
walks, etc.; use of native or adapted plants; reduced turf area; and use of mulches
• Appropriate maintenance
Landscape tidy — healthy, disease- and pest-free plants; no weeds; plants pruned as
