• Home prices in the Dallas area rose almost six percent from January last year to January this year, according to CoreLogic’s latest home price report. Take out distressed sales, which includes things like foreclosures that force prices lower, and the increase 8.1 percent. Nationally, prices were up almost 10 percent, and this was the 11th consecutive month that prices rose – the biggest gain since April 2006.
• Ebby Halliday, the Dallas real estate icon, celebrated her 102nd birthday on Monday. That’s impressive enough, but what’s even more amazing is that she used the two-hour celebration at Southfork to plug her company in interviews with various media types. How many of us who aren’t 102 would have the energy to do that?
