beerStart preparing for another Sunday filled with IPAs, lagers and ales because the fifth-annual Brew Riot is just around the corner. Happening this year on Sunday, May 19, from 4-8 p.m., the competition features about 50 local homebrewers.

All ticketholders get to vote on a winner in the people’s choice competition. A panel of judges will select the best in these categories: IPA, Belgium and French ales, Lager, ales and specialty.

Visitors can expect the return of the 1.1-mile beer run,popular brewers from past years and newcomers to the competition. East Dallas-based country/folk band The O’s will perform. Tickets cost $20, which includes sampling to your heart’s content.

The 1.1-mile run starts at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Nova,a nd includes stops for 8-ounce beers at the Kessler and Bolsa before finishing in Bishop Arts. Entry to the run costs $35, which includes a Brew Riot ticket.

The deadline to enter a homebrew team is Sunday, May 5.
