Oh, National Days, how we love thee. This one celebrates toasty bread and melted cheese: National Grilled Cheese Day is Friday, April 12, and Norma’s is giving it away.
From 6 a.m.-8 p.m., all dine-in customers can receive one free “classic” grilled-cheese sandwich, while supplies last.
Norma’s also is launching three new grilled cheeses, available for purchase:
·        Florentine grilled cheese with spinach, bacon, eggs and cream cheese
·        Santa Fe grilled cheese with green chilies and bacon
·        Chicken fried steak grilled cheese
You guys, if a sandwich has a big ol’ piece of battered and deep-fried beef on it, can it still be called a grilled cheese? How much meat may a cheese sandwich contain before it is defined by that meat? Maybe we have it all wrong, naming sandwiches after meats. Melted cheese does adhere; is it holding the universe together? Existential sandwich questions. Thanks for blowing my mind, Norma’s.
