The Oak Cliff Jaycees put on big fireworks displays at Kiest Park up until the mid-1980s, but now there is no fireworks show in our neighborhood and no big celebration. While Bastille Day gets major treatment in Oak Cliff nowadays, the Fourth is low key.
There are a couple of things going on in celebration of American independence.
The Kessler Plaza Neighborhood Association hosts its annual children’s bicycle parade around Moss Park. Festivities begin at 11:30 a.m., with a cookout after the parade.
The Oak Cliff Boomers host their third-annual picnic at Kiest Park from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. See their facebook invitation for more details.
Bar Belmont is open to the public from 3 p.m. – midnight, serving food and beverages, plus a taco stand.The Belmont Hotel pool bar is open to hotel guests only from 4-10 p.m.
