The Oak Cliff Film Festival kicks off tonight at the Texas Theatre and runs through Sunday. The official program guide was delivered with the June Advocate. The Observer posted a day-by-day festival guide; the Morning News suggests these five films; and Taco Trail suggests these nine taquerÃas to try between films. There is also a bicycle treasure hunt Saturday. Other events include a Small Brewery pop-up at Jefferson Tower from 7-9 p.m. Friday.
If that’s not enough, tonight, June 6, is First Thursday wine walk, from 6-9 p.m., in the Bishop Arts District.
Alongside all the movies, there is also a play running in Oak Cliff this weekend. Our neighborhood’s new theater troupe, the Davis Street Collective, presents Sarah Kane’s “4.48 Psychosis,” at 8 p.m. tonight and Friday, June 7, at Davis Foundry gallery.
The Art Conspiracy seed party, “Mounted,” starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at Life in Deep Ellum. It is described as “a lodge-like, electronic animalistic mounted dream sequence that only those crazy Art Conspirators can produce.”
Safari Nights at the Dallas Zoo kicks off Saturday, June 8 and runs every Saturday through July 27, when Sara Hickman performs.
Charlie Sexton performs at the Kessler Sunday.
