‘A Band Called Death’
“Before Bad Brains, the Sex Pistols or even the Ramones, there was a band called Death.” This documentary focuses on three brothers from Detroit who started playing punk-rock music before anyone else, as early as 1971. The group cut a demo in 1974 but disbanded in ’77 having never completed a full album. Record collectors coveted pressings of Death singles, and Drag City Records released Death’s seven original songs in 2009. But these punk pioneers remained obscure until this movie started hitting film festivals last year. Call for show times and ticket prices.  The Texas Theatre, 231 W. Jefferson, 214.948.1546
