Police cars and a SWAT team were posted up at West Davis and Cedar Hill Avenue Wednesday afternoon because of a man armed with a gun who had threatened a relative and then refused to make contact with police from inside his house.

The standoff started about 3 p.m. when a man called police saying his brother-in-law had threatened him with a gun.

Around 6:30 p.m., police were able to get the man out of the house, in the 600 block of West Neely, and he is expected to be charged with aggravated assault. The gunman’s wife as well as four small children were in the house.
