computer_chessHere is a chance to view Oak Cliff from a new angle. The rooftop of Jefferson Tower normally is closed to the public, but Jim Lake Cos. is throwing a Cuba-themed rooftop party there from 7-11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30. The real estate company, which is redeveloping the tower and surrounding block, invites you to climb through a window to the roof for free mambo lessons from 7-8 p.m., dancing, drinks and Cuban sandwiches.

The Kessler Theater also wants to party with you this Labor Day weekend. L-OC-al starts at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 and “is all about chillin’ with your friends and neighbors in 75208,” according to the invitation. “Burgers, beers and, of course, live music is what this day is all about! No sponsors or street closures, smaller than a festival, but bigger than your average backyard party.” Watch the Rangers game and hear live music from Floramay Holliday, Rahim Quazi, Holt and Stockslager, Lone Star Floyd and Hard Day’s Night.
