Brisket, hickory sausage, tobacco onion straws and Daisy's cheesy potatoes

Our neighborhood is a destination for foodies and beer snobs, so rich is our culinary scene. But when it comes to a good ol’ game-watching spot, the options in Oak Cliff are slimmer. Here are our six picks to get your football fix in Oak Cliff. Go Cowboys.

1. Pour House Dallas, aka PHD, West Davis at Clinton

One of the few true sports bar in North Oak Cliff. The food is a step up from Applebee’s, but the atmosphere can’t be beat, with a huge patio and big-screen TVs everywhere you look. There really is not a bad seat in the house for game watching. This place does so much business on NFL Sundays that they have to convert part of their parking lot into a seating area. PHD has 75-cent wings and happy hour all day on Mondays. Sunday brunch is from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

2. La Costena, 534 Sunset

This is another true sports bar, which draws soccer fans year round. When it comes to NFL season, though, this is Cowboys country. La Costena serves Mexican seafood and spicy micheladas.

3. Whitehall Exchange, Seventh and Bishop

This is a great location for people watching in Bishop Arts, and there are big TVs above the bar for watching the game. Plus, the food is pretty good. We like the Korean BBQ sliders and flat bread.

4. The Foundry, Commerce and Pittman

This is a great bar and live music venue, and it makes for a lovely Sunday with Chicken Scratch grub and local craft beers. But keep in mind, it is not a sports bar. You might have to ask for the sound to be turned on the TV that’s near the pool table.

5. Lockhart Smokehouse, Seventh at West Davis

You will come out smelling like delicious smoked meat. And for important games, Lockhart usually has the sound up.

6. Smoke, 901 Fort Worth Ave.

Smoke might not seem like the best game-watching spot around, but that’s one reason why it’s secretly awesome for just that purpose. The bar is small — it seats fewer than 20 people — but if you can secure a seat, you will have a fine view of the TV, plus excellent cocktail options and one of the best brunches in Dallas.
