Fort Worth gets the actual Willie Nelson and his 4th of July picnic this year. But we can see Waylon and Willie and the boys right here in Oak Cliff.
The Texas Theatre screens the 1979 concert film, “Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Celebration” July 3-6. All of the shows start at 7 p.m. except for the July 4 screening, which starts at 5 p.m. Dinner from Bolsa Mercado will be available at the July 4 show — a sausage roll, mac and cheese and a cookie. Dinner and a movie costs $25.
Here is a clip from the movie, featuring Oak Cliff’s own Michael Martin Murphey.
