The 250-unit three-story apartment complex on Commerce at Pittman is nearing completion, and its developer wants to dedicate the 30 old-growth trees it spared in honor of local tree preservationists.
If you know a botanist, arborist or tree advocate — an individual, company or nonprofit — nominate them for a plaque in developer Wood Partners’ “Pappy’s Tree Grove.”
The name comes from Pappy’s Showland, a nightclub that operated on the site in the 1940s.
Once 30 preservationists are chosen, Wood Partners will order tree-sensitive plaques engraved with the name of the honoree and the species of the tree.
