Restaurant news: Doughnuts, Ten Bells, Savor Dallas, King of the Sea

photo 2Oak Cliff might not have the hippest doughnuts shop in town, but that’s OK because we have Lone Star Donuts, which is one of Eater’s best places to eat doughnuts in Dallas.

The owners of Ten Bells Tavern snapped up the space formerly occupied by Amsterdam Bar, the Exposition Park hangout that closed recently. They are planning to open a similar concept to Ten Bells, which is called Eight Bells Alehouse.

Savor Dallas starts this week, and there are a few Oak Cliff-related events. Smoke chef/owner Tim Byres offers a dinner Wednesday, March 18. Restaurateur Nick Badovinus, who lives in Oak Cliff, shares his secrets to the perfect burger Thursday, March 19. Chef Omar Flores and sommelier Omar Flores and Jessica Kate Martinez of Casa Rubia give a presentation about sherry March 19. Hibiscus chef Graham Dodds, who lives in Oak Cliff, offers a charcuterie presentation with sous chef Nick Ocando.

Who remembers King of the Sea restaurant in Wynnewood shopping center? We found this old menu online. Some pretty good deals here.
