There are plenty of locally owned places in Oak Cliff to find frozen treats. Here are a few of our favorites.
1. Paleteria Neveria, 208 W. Jefferson
This ice cream shop opened not long ago down the block from the Texas Theatre, between a nail salon and a Church’s Chicken. The owner makes all the ice creams herself, including avocado, sour cherry and pine nut. Our favorite has pistachios, pecans, almonds and lime zest. It makes “Pecan Pralines ‘n’ Cream” seem boring.
2. La Original Michoacana, 415 W. Davis
One of the most popular ice cream spots in Oak Cliff, Michoacana also makes its own amazing ice cream flavors using fresh fruit, and it’s conveniently located in Bishop Arts.
3. Cox Farms Market, 778 Fort Worth Ave.
The little grocery at Sylvan Thirty offers Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.
4. Aunt Stelle’s, 2002 W. Clarendon
You’ve been waiting for this moment: Aunt Stelle’s opens for the season at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. April 25.
