South Oak Cliff students walk out to protest poor building conditions

About 250 South Oak Cliff High School students walked out of classes this week in protest of what they call “horrible” building conditions.

The school’s heating and air conditioning system is wonky, often leaving classrooms unbearably hot or cold, they say. The roof leaks, and the school has been under construction too long. Students say they want a new school.

That’s unlikely to happen, but the Dallas Independent School District says repairs to the tune of $13 million are coming soon.
