The Oak Cliff Streetcar opened about a year ago, but its limited hours made it impractical for tourism and entertainment.

Starting today, the streetcar runs 9:30 a.m.-midnight seven days a week. Previously, the car had run 5 a.m.-7:15 p.m. Monday-Friday. It is free to ride.

The 1.6-mile streetcar line runs from the Downtown end of the Houston Street Viaduct to Colorado at Beckley. But another mile-long stretch, turning left on Beckley and right on Zang and ending at Seventh Street, is under construction. That line is expected to open by the end of this year.

On the other end, the streetcar eventually will reach the convention center, and plans call for connecting it to the McKinney Avenue Trolley.
