A vegan restaurant called the V Spot is opening at Trinity Groves in the spot vacated by the short-lived Sugar Skull Cafe. The new restaurant, from Samson’s Gourmet Hot Dogs owner Troy Gardner, is unrelated to the V Spot vegan restaurant that was on Henderson until 2012. Gardner told Culture Map he was unaware of that restaurant, which left unpaid bills when it closed.

Bishop Cider Co. is expanding to the Design District. The owners have a new space at 2777 Irving Blvd., where they are throwing a party Saturday, Feb. 27, to debut new brews. Tickets cost $23-$44.

Katherine Clapner of Dude Sweet Chocolate has been making and selling kolaches at Full City Rooster on South Akard every Saturday morning. She starts selling them at 9 a.m., and don’t be late, because they sell out.
