Cienda Partners bought the property in January and gave the car wash’s owners notice that its lease would not be renewed. The business has until March 17 to move out, according to a newsletter from City Councilman Scott Griggs, who says some neighbors have “considered it a neighborhood eyesore.”

Gator Wash, at 2500 Fort Worth Ave., is adjacent to the 18-acre site of the former Colorado Place apartment complex, which was demolished in 2009. Redevelopment plans for that site began in 2008, before the real estate crash, when a developer wanted to build condos, apartments and shops there. Since then, the land has changed hands a few times. Investment group Cienda bought it a few years ago and has been waiting for just the right developer.

Cienda also owns and plans to redevelop the site of the former Oak Farms Dairy and Burnett Field near East Jefferson and East Colorado.
