Broadcaster and former National Football League quarterback Babe Laufenberg attended an award ceremony at Dallas Can Academy recently, and he heard a story that touched his heart.
It was the life story of Nadia Rangel, a graduating senior from Dallas Can’s Oak Cliff campus. Her father was in prison, and her mother was a drug addict. Rangel was raised in foster care, and she dropped out of high school to work.
But eventually she chose to ignore the negative forces in her life, and she finished high school at Dallas Can Academy. She plans to attend El Centro College.
Laufenberg was so impressed with Rangel that he took her to Nordstrom and availed a personal shopper to find her a graduation dress.
She graduates June 10.
