An 18-year-old boxer out of Vivero Boxing Gym in Elmwood won his professional debut July 30 in Coachella, Calif.

Vergil Ortiz, who the Advocate featured in our March cover story “Bout Life”, beat 26-year-old Julio Rodas in less than a two minutes, winning by knockout when the referee stopped the fight.

You can watch the whole bout below. The boxers enter the ring at around 1:00, and the match starts around the 3:30 mark.
