SUV driver kills woman at Oak Cliff laundromat

The driver of an SUV killed a 23-year-old Oak Cliff woman who was entering a laundromat on Westmoreland Road Sunday night.

The Dallas Police Department says 47-year-old Juan Velasquez sped out in reverse and fishtailed his SUV, pinning Maricruz Gonzalez against another car in the parking lot. Gonzalez had been walking with a laundry cart, and she was killed in front of her husband and their 1-year-old child.

The driver of the SUV ran until witnesses caught him.

The crime was caught on surveillance camera, according to KDFW.

Velasquez has been charged with accident involving death and is in the Dallas County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
