The neighborhood bike shop that opened in 2009 is closing this month.
Oak Cliff Bicycle Co. owner Jeremy Ordaz says the shop’s last day is Black Friday, Nov. 25, and until then the shop will close at 6 p.m. on weekdays.
The shop opened more than seven years ago, filling a void in the Oak Cliff market and serving a blossoming cycling culture fostered by Bike Friendly Oak Cliff. But since then, a couple of new locally owned bike shops have opened in Dallas, including Deep Ellum’s Local Hub, which is owned by Oak Cliff residents Kristie Holt and Justin Shannon. And Dallas Bike Works opened an outpost less than a mile away from OCBC in the spring of 2014.
We hear Ordaz could’ve kept the shop running but really he just wants to ride mountain bikes indefinitely.
