Someone began creating tiny arched doors for the crooks at the bottoms of trees along the Coombs Creek Trail a couple of years ago.

More recently, the Game of Gnomes shown above came along, probably from a different source. We tried to find out who is making these, for a story in the January Advocate, but all of our leads fell cold.

We want to know who’s doing it, and also, we kind of don’t. As neighbor Cooper Koch said, “I like the magic of it.”

The little doors put smiles on people’s faces. So whoever is doing it, even if they want to remain anonymous, we hope they keep it up.

An anonymous group in the Swedish city of Malmö took this idea to the next level, creating tiny sidewalk cafes and shops for mice.
