The Bishop Arts Theatre Center opens a short-play festival, “Down for the Count,” Thursday. The show, which spotlights the work of five female authors, runs through Feb. 26.

Shinyribs performs at the Kessler Saturday.

The Texas Theatre shows “Foxy Brown” Saturday preceding a “Soul Train” dance party.
